Backups and export

LiftJot does not keep a server copy of your log. A complete backup therefore takes one deliberate action—and gives you a file you control.

Use .workoutlog for restoring. CSV is a readable export of performed sets, not a LiftJot restore file. Both file types are unencrypted.

Create a complete backup

  1. Open Settings → Data controls.
  2. Choose Create backup.
  3. Save the .workoutlog file to a destination you trust and will still have if the device is lost.

The archive contains every retained LiftJot product record, including workout history, notes, exercises, categories, and settings needed for a complete restore.

Restore a backup

  1. Open Settings → Data controls → Restore.
  2. Select a LiftJot .workoutlog file.
  3. Review the preview and confirm only if it is the record you intend to use.

LiftJot validates the archive, previews it, creates a safety copy of current data, and commits the restore atomically. Restore replaces the current retained record with the archive’s contents. A validation or write failure changes nothing.

Move between devices

Create the backup on the old device, move the file through a route you trust, then restore it on the new device. The same .workoutlog format is designed for LiftJot on supported iPhone, iPad, and Android devices.

Export CSV

Settings → Data controls → Export CSV creates one row per performed set with workout date, category, exercise, tracked values, display units, and the date note. Pending targets are not included.

Use CSV for a spreadsheet, coach, personal analysis, or another tool. It does not contain the complete app structure and LiftJot does not restore from it.
